Death Valley Road

Embarking on my first-ever Death Valley adventure in 2018, I detoured from my Mammoth Lakes trip after a wild snowstorm. Seeking the polar opposite of winter wonderland, I ventured into the scorching desert via Highway 190, the scenic route connecting directly from Highway 395. The breathtaking landscapes along Highway 190 demand frequent stops to soak in the views. This photo, snapped mid-road, captures the stark contrast of the snow-covered Sierra Nevada mountains against the arid desert terrain.
